Asus ROG Phone 8, 8 Pro Set to launch on Jan 8, Expectations

Asus has officially announced that the upcoming ROG Phone 8 series powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, will be revealed at the CES 2024 on January 8.

Before the official unveiling there are reports circulating about its specifications. It is anticipated that the handsets would have a 6.78-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display and large 5,500mAh battery capacity. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC will power the Asus ROG Phone 8, as confirmed by official announcement. The company most recently unveiled the two colour options for the rear of its next gaming smartphone, both of which feature RGB-backlit Republic of Gamers (ROG) Logo. The devices will be available in rebel grey color variants.

According to reports, the Asus ROG Phone 8 series will ship with Android 14, which will include the ROG UI. It is also anticipated to include a 6.78-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. There are rumours that the ROG Phone 8 Pro’s display will support HDR10 and have a refresh rate of up to 165 Hz.

The 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 primary camera with OIS capability, the 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and the 32-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom are rumoured to be included in the ROG Phone 8 Pro’s specifications.

The Pro model may come with variants with 16GB or 24GB of RAM and storage capacities ranging from 512GB to 1TB. The regular model is rumoured to include up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
